Room 2 Home Learning – Tuesday 24th August
Why don’t witches wear flat hats?
Because there’s no point!
I told you it was good 😉 If anyone else has any good jokes, feel free to email me. Yours may just end up in our next home learning post!
Here is the plan for today…
9.30am – Karakia and Attendance in the ‘Whole School’ Google Classroom.
‘Room 2’Â Google Classroom for the rest of the day.
10.00am – ‘Th’ practice – here is a neat video clip that gives lots of examples of the soft ‘th’ sound and the hard ‘th’ sound. Please watch it, then join me in our Google Classroom to go through our Word Wizard list of ‘th’ words to see if we can hear the difference!
10.35am – Quick Writes – This is my goat ‘Rocket’. He’s a lovely goat but he can be a bit naughty! Rocket likes to go on adventures to the Titoki General Store, climb things, and eat plants that he’s not supposed to! Once, I caught him on top of Mr Booth’s ute! Today’s quick writes will be about ‘The Adventures of Rocket’. Where do you think he might go next? Who will he visit? Will you see him at your house?
Please have paper and a pencil ready and join me in the Google Classroom for quick writes. 10 minutes and as many words and sentences as you can!
11.00am –Â Morning Tea Break!
11.15am – Maths Challenge – Fractions! Here are a couple more fraction problems for you to have a go at. Remember a fraction is ‘part of a whole’. Meet me in the Google Classroom to discuss these fraction brain busters.
If you want some extra Maths, you will find some basic Facts practice in your Google Drive folders. These are Google Docs which means that you can type your answers in and I can mark them for you!
11.45am – Te Reo Maori – because we would normally have Whaea Hoana join us on a Tuesday, I thought it would be a good idea to have some Te Reo Maori in our Google Classroom today. Join me for a game of ‘Pea nei, Pea na’. Parents are welcome to join but I warn you, the students are getting pretty good at this!
If you want a little bit extra, here is a really good link to some Te Reo Maori word matching games, courtesy of The Te Reo Club. Click here to check them out! Just saying that my personal best time on the ‘Card Memory Match’ game is 2.45 minutes. Beat that!
Question Time – Once again, our Google Classroom will be open until 12.30pm if you have any questions or want to pop in for a korero.
See you in class!
Mrs Booth
