Good Morning Room 2!
Story time!
Here is a story called ‘Butterfly Day’ which is about Monarch Butterflies emerging from their chrysalis’ in a school classroom!
How exciting! Have a listen and let me know if you heard something you found interesting about butterfly day.
Patterns!
Butterfly wings have patterns on them that are symmetrical, this means that one wing is a mirror image of the other and if you fold them together they match!
Have a look around, inside and outside and see what patterns you can find. What have you discovered?
Paper Butterfly Challenge!
Using an A4 piece of paper, cut into a square shape, see if you can create your own paper butterfly.
Like this…
Remember, a square has 4 equal length sides. If your piece of paper is a square it will make it easier to line up and fold.
Fold your paper in half diagonally (you might need some help if you’re not sure), three times.
This is just a suggestion, if you want to fold your paper in half horizontally (across) or vertically (up/down) three times, then feel free to give that a go. I would love to hear what worked better for you!
Carefully, cut your butterfly wing shape and pattern.
Unfold.
How did it turn out? What could you do differently? Does your butterfly have a pattern on its wings? Maybe you could have another go…
Have a great day!
